Mythic hunting feels very different after Diablo IV's 3.1.1 update landed on July 14, 2026. Boss-drop problems were addressed, and players can now wear more than one Mythic Unique at a time, so building around several chase pieces is no longer just a theorycrafting dream. That has made D4 items far more important to players pushing serious endgame setups. For many groups, Kurast has become the place to spend a session, especially when the goal is more Mythic rolls rather than a slow pile of ordinary loot.

Start with the right difficulty

Torment 12 is where this route really earns its reputation. Lower tiers may be easier, sure, but they don't offer the same upside from Armed Mythic Tributes. These tributes no longer promise a Mythic Unique every single time, which caught plenty of players off guard early in the season. Still, their odds remain strong at the highest difficulty. The practical route is to gather blue tributes, fuse them through Horadric Cube recipes, then keep upgrading through rare and legendary versions. Five legendary Armed Tributes are needed for the Mythic-focused run, so don't burn materials on random attempts.

What to prepare before entering Kurast

Set the dungeon to Torment 12 before using a valuable tribute.
Bring a build that clears packs quickly and can handle sudden goblin spawns.
Invest War Plan points in the Kurast branch, following the left-hand route.
Unlock Sewer Sludge, since that node is the whole reason this method works.

Why Sewer Sludge changes the run

Sewer Sludge gives beacon activations a chance to call in Portal Pranksters. They're not something to ignore or rush past. Kill them, because each one can duplicate the chest payout waiting after the boss. That's the trick: an Armed Mythic Tribute may feed into more than one reward chest instead of one. A good map can turn a normal clear into several shots at Mythic Uniques, sometimes four or more. You'll notice experienced players don't just sprint toward the third floor. They sweep the route, hit beacons, and check whether the pranksters are showing up.

Know when to leave the instance

Not every Kurast layout deserves a full clear. If the beacons produce several Portal Pranksters before the floor-three boss, finish the dungeon and collect the duplicated chests. If almost nothing spawns, don't force it just because you've already spent time inside. Open the map and use War Plan fast travel to jump to the next queued activity; that resets the current instance without turning a poor setup into a wasted run. It's a small habit, but it protects scarce tributes and makes farming cheap D4 items feel much less like a coin toss.
